My quest for content has inevitably led to me trying to document the endless task of securing PS4 trophies, and I thought it might be fun to track my quarterly progress. It might not be much fun at all, but this is my blog and therefore my rules!
I've mentioned previously that it is my intention to focus on obtaining the very last trophies of every game I play. I want to focus on games I actually enjoy playing rather than games with trophies that are easy to obtain. This should make my videos more interesting as well.
This will obviously be a short quarter as I bought my PS4 on Black Friday (24/11/2017), but I have tried to cram in as much game time as I can. Here's what I've been working on.
I've nearly finished the main campaign as well as lots of the side missions. There is a lot to collect in order to 100% this, but it's fun to blast round the world at your own pace and get it done.
Rather infuriatingly, in trying to obtain the Red Mist trophy, I completed all of Trevor's Rampage missions, but the trophy did not pop. I have since found out that this is a PS4 bug, and my best chance of getting this is to replay the campaign offline. I'm going to get all the single player trophies I can, then whizz through a new campaign to quickly unlock Trevor and his Rampage missions again. In my haste to blast through the campaign, I also missed some opportunities to make some big money on the stock market, so I can address this on my second playthrough as well.
In the meantime, there's a lot of completionist style stuff to crack on with like obtaining 70 gold medals on missions, finding 50 of a million different things, playing all the sports, winning all the races and getting jiggy with strippers! What a life.
I won't be getting the online trophies until I properly begin playing online next year.
Call of Duty: WWII
I've completed the campaign on Recruit and got some of the bonus trophies. What I have learnt is I'm absolutely dreadful at this game! When I played COD 4 on XBOX 360 I actually got very close to completing it on Veteran, so I am blaming the Playstation controller. I know it's a bit of a cop out but I genuinely think it's a poorly designed controller and it will take me a good year of gaming in order to bring my skills up to date.
Again, online trophies will begin next year.
Horizon Zero Dawn
Initially my plan was to 100% a game then move on to the next game. In a reality, stuff like Horizon Zero Dawn will pop up half price in the the Playstation Store and I'll get massively distracted!
This game is beautiful. I convinced it would be game of they year if Breath of the Wild hadn't also been released. I'm putting pretty much everything on hold until I finish this. I think it could even be the first platinum trophy I unlock.
In the Pipeline
I have been lent the remastered PS4 version of The Last of Us, a game that I have never played. I'm relishing the prospect of playing what is arguably one of the best games ever made. I will also be downloading Terraria and getting the Tutorial trophies out the way in preparation for what will be possibly be my first ever foray into Twitch streaming. I also have 3 of the 9 Broforce trophies on offer, No platinum here but still my prep this for a 'Last Trophy' episode.
In the new year I will be buying something fun like Crash Bandicoot, something old like Bioshock and something brand new which grabs my fancy. I'll definitely look for strong new indie titles as well.
I also can't wait for Anthem and would like to make this the first current game I master. Watch this space!
