I currently live with my twin brother Mikey. We have been keen gamers all our lives and have shared pretty much every major Nintendo console since we got our NES back in the nineties.
As a result we have played a lot of multiplayer games and I’ll always have a fondness for the moments huddled around a console.
I’m keen to recapture the magic of these two player experiences with a series of streams and videos called ‘Super Glenister Bros’. I’m unsure of the format yet, but I fully intend to settle a question that has plagued our lives once and for all: who is better at games, Rob or Mikey? There’ll be thrills, spills, kills, and graphs as well probably!
We will happily take suggestions for games to play, but below is a list of some definite possibilities.
STREETFIGHTER II TURBO
I’ve talked about this before but we are obsessed with this game and have played it for hours. I say I’m the greatest. Mikey says he’s the greatest. One of us is full of crap! It will be interesting to see who has retained their mad skills.
We are looking to take on the 2 player co-op of Portal 2. Obviously we won’t be able to compete here but I will be happy to open it up to our Twitch viewers to vote on who is performing the best!
We loved Sonic II’s competitive multiplayer so it would be interesting to see what’s been done with it in the latest 2D entry in the series. While it would be nice to reminisce and play the Megadrive classic again, I do remember the split screen suffering from horrendous slowdown, so hopefully the Mania team will have fixed this.
STREETS OF RAGE
An absolute classic with one of the most banging soundtracks in gaming history. Obviously another co-op game but there are many things we can judge, for example top score, longest time alive and we can put it to a stream vote as well! Do we play 1, 2 or 3 though…decisions, decisions!
ANY SINGLE PLAYER GAME
As I’m writing this and trying to remember the greatest Glenister clashes of all time, I find myself recalling the times where I was watched him murder a one player game, desperate to grab the controller and do a better job. I’m sure he feels the same way about my performance as well! Ultimately, with the Super Glenister Bros series we can explore all aspects of gaming through individual challenges as well as multiplayer clashes. The good thing about a single player game is that we’re watching the other we can be as supportive or distracting as we like!
I’ll be looking to get this series up and running as soon as possible so watch this space. We welcome all game and challenge ideas so get in touch as well!
