Gakugo World is a project by game design student Ali Lennon. I've worked with him before and was happy to do so again as he is a bundle of energy and ideas, and his enthusiasm is contagious!
For this game, Ali is giving the RPG genre an amazing twist, whereby the only way to progress through the game is to learn Japanese. That's right, the game teaches you freaking Japanese!
For his demo, he required some music for a Kyoto style village. Knowing Ali is a big Nintendo fan, I was happy to go full-on Zelda and crack the flute, harp and pizzicato strings out! I recorded some live bongos as a light beat.
We're very pleased with this highly melodic and chilled out arrangement. Future iterations may evolve to include more traditional Asian instruments. The great thing about forging long term working relationship with us is we are only a phone call or an email away. We like to work quickly and surf the wave of inspiration!
